Astrophytum asterias ‘Super Kabuto’ + Rensei

Common Name(s)/Synonym(s): Sand Dollar Cactus, Texas Star Cactus

Origin: A cultivar of Astrophytum asterias.

Description: This cultivar combines the extensive mosaic of white spots of the Super Kabuto and the densely packed areoles on the rib edges, Rensei (Line Areoles). The areoles tend to merge forming an almost continuous line, hence the name Rensei. It is a small cactus with a solitary, spherical, apically depressed stem with usually 8 ribs.

Care: They do best in sunny conditions and require regular watering in growing season. They need a fairly dry winter to avoid root rot, so should be planted in a well draining soil mixture.

*These plants are sold/couriered bare root without the pot and soil. Currently planted in 7.5cm square pots.
