Astrophytum asterias var. nudum f. variegata
Astrophytum asterias var. nudum f. variegata
Common Name(s)/Synonym(s): Astrophytum asterias cv. Ruri Kabuto Nisiki
Origin: A variegated cultivar of Astrophytum asterias.
Description: A small cactus with a solitary glabrous stem lacking the white tufts of hairy scales typical of the common Astrophytum asterias. The smooth appearance show up the felty areoles. These variegated varieties have sectors, patches or stripes with distinct shades of yellow.
Care: They do best in bright conditions, but cannot tolerate prolonged exposure to sunlight, especially during the hot summer months. They require regular watering in growing season and need a fairly dry winter to avoid root rot, so should be planted in a well draining soil mixture.
*These plants are sold/couriered bare root without the pot and soil. Currently planted 7.5cm pots.
