Gymnocalycium mihanovichii ‘Variegata’ (Nishikii)
Common Name(s)/Synonym(s): Gymnocalycium mihanovichii f. variegata, Hibotan Nishiki
Origin: A large group of cultivars of Gymnocalycium mihanovichii with stems that lack chlorophyll.
Description: A 8 to 14 very prominently ribbed cactus with globose to sub globose stems. The stems have parts, strips or sectors with either no or very little chlorophyll, which makes way for an array of colours and patterns. They grow up to 12cm in diameter and 10cm tall, often producing numerous offsets. Each areole bears 3 to 6 dark brown radial spines up to 1cm each.
Care: They do best in sunny conditions and require light shade in the hottest months. They should be planted in a well draining soil which should be left to dry in between watering.
*These plants are sold/couriered bare root without the pot and soil. Currently planted in 10cm square pots.
